Dental Care For Children

Most children receive dental treatment form a pediatric dentist at school but we also need to attend regular dental visits with them. A dentist’s primary goals are prevention and maintenance. Regular check ups can help in early detection and problems such as cavities, not to mention your child becoming accustomed to the dental trips and having less fear as they grow older. There are many things at home you can help your children with to learn and maintain a good oral health routine. Children should be supervised while brushing until they can spit and rinse without assistance. This happens at about age six.

Specialists recommend the following to help maintain healthy teeth in children

·      Maintain a healthy diet rich in fruits and veggies, and low in sweetened foods and drinks

·      Drink plenty of water

·      Limit between-meal snacks -- especially those high in sugar

·      Brush twice a dayGet regular dental checkups and cleanings

Without proper brushing cavities can occur and require a filling. Cavities occur when plaque left on teeth produce bacteria and attacks the tooth until a hole is formed. Brushing and flossing daily can help prevent this.Symptoms that your child may have, if they need endodontic treatment include pain in a tooth at any time and for no reason, if he/she are sensitve to temperature changes and if a pulp is exposed with a broken tooth.

If a child seems to be at risk for cavities or other problems, the dentist may start applying fluoride toothpaste even before all teeth come erupt. Fluoride hardens the tooth enamel, helping to prevent cavities. If your child is scared or anxious about seeing a dentist, consider taking your child to a dentist who specializes in treating kids. Pediatric dentists are trained to handle the wide range of issues associated with kids' dental health. Dental visits are not the only part of good dental care, home care is equally important. Parents must help to teach dental care. If you would like to learn more about this ,please contact us, we are always more than happy to help:
